Oyebanji mourns death of Ekiti Chief Judge, Justice Adeyeye

The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed condolences over the death of the Chief Judge of the State, Hon. Justice John Oyewole Adeyeye.
Justice Adeyeye, inaugurated as Ekiti State Chief Judge on 11 October 2021, passed away on Monday at the age of 64.
Governor Oyebanji, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, described Justice Adeyeye’s passing as heartrending and a colossal loss for the State.
The Governor stated that with the death of Justice Adeyeye, the Judiciary in Ekiti State, and Nigeria at large, has lost a significant pillar and an invaluable asset.
The Ekiti helmsman praised the late Chief Judge as a firm and forthright jurist who upheld the principles of equity and justice with unwavering dedication.
Governor Oyebanji noted that Justice Adeyeye worked tirelessly for a vibrant and independent Judiciary throughout his life, ensuring that the arm of government contributed effectively to good governance and the defence of citizens’ rights.
He added that Justice Adeyeye had also been an advocate for the welfare of judicial officers and staff members of the Ekiti State Judiciary, striving for improved service delivery and the smooth operation of the justice sector.
The Governor prayed for God’s comfort for the immediate and extended family of the deceased, the people of Araromi Ugbesi in Ekiti East Local Government Area, and members of the Bar and Bench, asking that they be granted the fortitude to bear this loss.
He urged the family to find solace in the profound impact and sterling contributions of the late Justice Adeyeye to the justice sector and the overall development of the State.
“This is indeed a great loss to our dear State. On behalf of the Government and people of Ekiti State, I commiserate with the family of the late Hon. Justice Adeyeye and pray that the good Lord will console and comfort them, and grant the dear departed eternal rest,” the Governor added.
