Oyetola assures cow farmers of support

The Osun state Governor, Gboyega Oyetola has assured cow farmers and dealers in the state of necessary support to ensure smooth running of their business.

The governor disclosed while playing host to Fulani/Bororo and Crop farmers and Cow dealers Association of Nigeria, Osun state chapter in his office on Tuesday.

Oyetola who was delighted with the committee of the peaceful co-existence between Fulani/Bororo and cow dealers said he is happy to know that they are living in peace.

The governor who noted that there are still cases of cows eating farm produce, however said he is glad that such issues were being resolved amicably.

While speaking on the construction of cow market in the state, Oyetola said the government is not in the positon to build a market but can only construct an abbatoir for cow dealers in the state.

He also assured the farmers of getting a low discount loan from the state Micro Credit office.

In his address, the Chairman of the committee, Hon Togun Oguntola said two years ago, people were stealing cows at night.

Togun noted that since the committee was constituted, cases of cow theft no longer exist among cow dealers with the help of the police and local vigilantes.

On the tax being collected, the chairman said they need the presence of the police to ensure that tax is being paid to the coffers of the government.
