Oyetola reiterates commitment to environmental protection

Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola has reiterated his administration’s commitment to the protection of the environment.
Governor Oyetola gave the assurance in Osogbo at the year 2022 World Environment Day celebration with the theme, ” Only one Earth, Living in Harmony with Nature”.
The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji noted that without environment, health, harmony and nature, man cannot exist.
He added that government and individuals have great responsibility to treasure the earth which God has given them.
The state helmsman emphasized that his administration has spent huge amount of money, within the last three and half years, on sanitation, erosion control, sewage control and many more.
He said his administration will continue to take care of the environment in order to ensure the existence of life of the residents of the state.
He further noted that tree planting is very important, hence over the years, government has kept preaching the gospel of tree planting as an integral part of healthy living.
“Tree can be planted for prevention of storm, control of erosion and for economic purposes for survival of life”, the governor explained.
Oyetola, therefore, charged every individual to imbibe the culture of tree planting, adding that government will continue to do this every year.
Earlier in his address, the Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Engr Sola Oladepo who appreciated the Federal government for the support given to the State in the area of environmental protection.
He noted that the state has never missed any of the World Environment Day since the inception of Governor Oyetola.
Oladepo, however, counseled on the need to do everything possible to protect the environment.
