Not less than 6,000 households have benefitted from the Ondo State Government’s palliative in Idanre Local Government last Thursday.
Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Sunday Akinwalire disclosed this while speaking with The Hope in Akure on Tuesday.
According to him, the distribution of the palliative serves as basic succour in the area of food supply to combat hunger in the local government adding that it will alleviate the negative condition brought about by the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Akinwalire revealed that 1200 bags of rice was allocated to the local government with over 6000 households beneficiaries including the physically challenged, Christian Association of Nigeria, Idanre Local Government, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Idanre Local Government, muslim community, artisans, okada riders, pack Management Council, traditional institution, widows and market women among others.
He expressed appreciation to the Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for rolling out several other measures including the free shuttle buses for school pupils, transport buses for public servants, palliative for farmers, traders among others.
However, he said that the exercise will be continuos one to cushion the effects of the subsidy removal in the state as supported by both state and federal government.
