Suspected goat thieves arrested by some hunters in Ala community, Akure have disappeared into the thin air.

Worried by the development, the youths of the community have reported the unexpected disappearance of the suspected thieves to the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the quarter.

The Hope Metro gathered that local hunters from the community had reportedly arrested two suspected thieves said to be  members of a notorious gang who were terrorising the community and impounded the vehicle that conveyed the suspects to the town on Saturday.

Leader of the hunters group who apprehended the goat thieves in the community, Mr Adegoke Adeoba, while commenting on the development, said the suspects were members of the gang that specialises in stealing goats and were apprehended by the local hunters when thieves numbering about eight stormed the community.

“But only two and the ring leader were arrested with their operational vehicle, while others escaped.

“The apprehended suspects we planned to hand over to the police by the community the next day as our farm settlement is very far from the community.

“It was later learnt this morning, the suspects had escaped from the hands of our fellow community members,” he narrated.

He described the development as a very bad situation. “I am not happy with the outcome and the notion that some of us would plan with outsiders to come and steal our goats.
