Residents of Ikire, Osun State, were thrown into panic after discovering a corpse dumped at a bus stop along the Ife/Ibadan Expressway.

The sight of the corpse caused many residents and passersby to avoid the area, opting for alternative routes to their destinations.

The reports indicated that the unidentified body was dumped at the location early yesterday (Sunday).

The situation has raised fears among people in the community, who have reportedly been avoiding the area out of concern.

The abandoned bus stop, where the corpse was found, is situated near a divisional office of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

An anonymous source, who did not want to be named, said he was alerted about the situation early on Sunday. However, the identity of the deceased had yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report.

When contacted, the acting Police Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Command, Adeola Adeoye, said he had not yet been briefed but promised to provide updates later.
