By Adeboye Ado

Parents in the Akoko area of Ondo State have expressed positive reactions to the free shuttle bus service provided to transport studenrs to various schools across the state.

Mr. Lanre Akingbade, a parent from Ogbagi Akoko, hailed the state government and urged it to expand the shuttle service beyond the current routes covering Ikare, Arigidi, and Okeagbe.

While speaking with The Hope in an Interview, he suggested neighboring towns such as Oyin, Erusu, Ogbagi Irun, and Afin Akoko, which are located close to the existing routes.

He said, “the shuttle buses have greatly eased the burden on parents who struggle with transportation. I believe extending the service to more communities will help even more children attend school regularly and safely.”

Saliu Awesu, the Seriki Musulumi of Akungba Akoko, commended the well-maintained condition of the buses.

He highlighted that the introduction of the shuttle scheme has greatly improved punctuality among students, while school attendance has also increased significantly.

According to Chief Awesu, “Since the launch of the shuttle buses, students are arriving at school on time more consistently, and teachers have reported better attendance rates. This initiative is truly making a positive difference in our community.”

Similarly, Chief Rufus Ajakaye, a community leader from Irun Akoko, described the initiative as a commendable humanitarian effort aimed at revitalizing education in Ondo State.

He further urged other states to adopt similar programmes to enhance educational access and quality.

He added, “this programme is a clear example of government taking action to support education. It shows that with proper planning and care, we can improve school participation and create brighter future for our children.”
