Parents in Ondo State have expressed delight over the recent recruitment of 2,110 teachers by the state government.
The recruitment, which included 1,100 primary school teachers and 1,010 secondary school teachers, was seen by the parents as a positive step towards improving the quality of education in public schools.
The parents, who spoke with The Hope over the weekend, commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration for showing the right political will to overhaul and revitalize the state’s education sector.
The parents commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his efforts to improve the state’s educational sector and urged the new teachers to put in their best efforts to justify the government’s investment.
They expressed confidence that the new teachers would inject new energies into the schools and drive the quality of education.
Mrs Folusho Adekanbi, a teacher and parent, said that the move had taken a good number of graduates in Ondo State from the streets and made room for lucrative employment.
“But we also expect the new teachers to put in their best into the training of pupils so that the quality of education in the state will improve,” she added.
Mr Oluwole Adesida, a civil servant, expressed hope that the new teachers would drive quality education in the state.
His words: “I hope that the recruitment process was merit-driven and I expect as a parent that the new teachers will inject into the schools new intellectual energies that would help to drive quality education in our children.”
Mrs. Abosede Olumuyiwa, a teacher and businesswoman, said that the recruitment should help restore quality knowledge delivery in public schools and reposition the public primary and secondary schools.
Another parent, Mr. Adeyemi Ogunleye, while appreciating the Ondo State Government, admonished the new teachers to be dedicated and passionate about teaching the children.
Another parent, Pastor Emmanuel Olaitan, also said, “Praise God for the governor’s efforts to improve education in Ondo State. We expect the new teachers to be role models and mentors to our children, guiding them towards academic excellence.”
Mrs. Funmilayo Akinola, a trader, said, “As a parent, I’m excited about the prospect of our children receiving good quality education. We hope the new teachers will be committed to helping our children achieve their full potential.”
