Parents have been challenged on moral upbringing of their children, so that the society will become a peaceful place to live in.
The Chief Imam of Ansar- Ud Deen Society Central Mosque, Afin Akoko, Sheikh Hamidu Yusuf gave the advice in his sermon during Jumat Service.
Sheikh Hamidu said parents should see themselves as the first to be blamed for the shortcomings of their wards instead of apportioning blame on government and schools.
According to the cleric, the number of hours a child spends with his parents compared with schools are much longer thereby placing every responsibility of molding the child more on parents.
He advocated massive employment to school leavers while workers welfare must be prioritized so as to reduce poverty and crimes in the country.
Sheik Yusuf condemned the recent maltreatment of some students of a Koranic sSchool in Kwara State where they were flogged mercilessly to the extent of having body injuries.
He advocated for recruitment of Arabic and Islamic teachers in public schools to promote moral education among the youths so as to reduce youth restiveness and juvenile crimes.
