As a new term begins today, parents and teachers have expressed their preparedness and expectations for the new term.
The parents who spoke with The Hope over the weekend said that they looked forward to a brand new term with a better experience and prospect for their children.
Mrs. Bosede Christianah, a parent, highlighted her primary preparations, stating that her first step is to ensure that she pays her children’s school fees to avoid any issues during lessons.
She said, “for me, I can say that all is set. I have purchased my children’s shoes, socks, bags, and textbooks. I have also gotten new uniforms for them. I look forward to a bright new term for them.”
Mrs. Olajumoke Iwala, another parent, stated that she was looking forward to the new term because it would be the final term of the session for her children and other pupils at large.
She stressed that parents generally should have their children’s uniforms washed and ironed, check their food packs and water bottles, and ensure their haircut is neat, to avoid punishment at school.
Most importantly, she stressed the power of prayer, seeking journey mercies for the term and asking for guidance to protect children from negative influences.
Mr Seun Ibitoye, a teacher, said that he was set for the resumption and had gathered more experience to enhance teaching-learning process, following the three-week break.
He said, “This is promotion term. It is expected that all the teachers should be deligent in their work, likewise the students and pupils should be more serious with their academics.
“We expect parents to provide all the reading and writing materials for their children and watch over them as much as they can. They should also warn their children that they should be mindful of the place they go to and the friends they mingle with. They should be security conscious as well.”
Mr Gideon Ekujumi, also a teacher, expressed high hopes for the new term, saying that he had learnt new ways of engaging his students to increase productivity.
He said, “I am expecting new learners and I am already expecting immediate impacts. I can’t wait to hit the ground running, as it is a very short term with holidays.”
