The Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB has restated its resolve to continue to encourage and support pupils and their schools to participate in competitions to sharpen their skills and bring the best out of them.
The Chairman of the Board, Victor Olabimtan made the promise during the presentation of the certificate and trophy won recently by Caring Heart Mega School, Supare in Akoko South West Local Government area by Master Adebayo Bolanle at a national event at Keffi, Nasarawa State.
At the event – GLOBE Nigeria Virtual Science Symposium and Workshop – designed to inculcate green environment consciousness in the pupils and students at tender age, Ondo State came third in basic education category.
The elated Chairman, who said the Board will give the outstanding pupil N50,000 as a token its appreciation of a job well done, commended the roles played by the Department of Social Mobilization for making the trip to the competition and the feat possible.
“This is the results of hard work and dedication to duty and that of testing the system. If the pupils are not well trained and the school participated, there is no way we would have known their ability and win the laurel”
He therefore enjoined all departments especially School Services to ensure schools and pupils participate in all competitions, promising that the Board under his watch will always give the necessary support to ensure attendance because the pupils are the focal point of the Board’s activities.
He commended the Globe Teacher, Mr. Akinola Samuel Olajide that trained the pupil for the competition for his resilience and dedication to duty.
Olabimtan promised to formally inform the Governor of the feat so that the pupil, the School and all that have contributed to the success story get appropriate recognition from the State in order to spur them and their contemporaries to work harder and be good ambassadors of the State.
Earlier, the Director of Social Mobilization, Mr. Julius Adebayo said it was the first time the Board would participate in the competition and it came third in the Basic Education Category and first and second respectively in the Senior Secondary Category, under the supervision of Ministry of Education.
