Political parties in Osun state have been lauded for adhering to the directives of INEC on electioneering campaign in the state.

The Administrative Secretary, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Osun state chapter, Alhaji Surajuden Ajani disclosed this in Osogbo on Monday.

He said all the political parties in the state are going about their campaigns according to the laid down rules of INEC.

He also assured that election in the state will be free and fair as political parties, observers and stakeholders will be carried along in it’s activities.

The INEC describe who identified the roles of various groups to participate during the election, said Inter Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security comprises of all security agencies saddled with the responsibility of security on election day.

He said the committee is chaired by the Commissioner of Police and will allocate security personnel to polling units and strategic points around the state.

“There won’t be heavy presence of security personnel on the election day because the election is across the country, unlike the governorship election conduct last year where security personnel were deployed to the state.”

Ajani said Osun state INEC does not have the power to register and observer groups, he said observer groups should contact their INEC head office in Abuja to enable them observe on election day.

“Observers on election day are only to observe and write their reports, unless on rare occasions, they may point out errors to our staff if need be.

” They can also alert INEC office about any form of irregularities at polling units”,  he said.
