A 47-year-old pastor simply identified as Oyebade Moses has been charged before an Okitipupa Magistrate Court for allegedly obtaining money under false pretence thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol.1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006 .

While stating the fact of the case , the police prosecutor, Inspt. Omoyegha Ayodeji told the court that the defendant dubiously obtained the sum of N650,000 from one Ramatu Yaro with the intention to help her purchase two plots of land in Akure but failed to do so.

In his oral evidence, the defendant admitted that he collected the said amount of money from the victim but did not promise to buy land for her.

Pastor. Oyebade added that the issue of land came up when he could not pay back the money he borrowed from her. In lieu of that, he promised her two plots of land, but the family dispute over the land has been the major constraint to fulfilling his promise.

He however pleaded not guilty to the one count charge.

In his judgement, the presiding magistrate , D.O Ogunfuyi granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties in the like sum . The two sureties are to be, responsible citizens who must show evidence of tax payment for the current year.

The case was adjourned to October 9th, 2018 for further hearing.
