In a significant breakthrough to bolster security in Ondo State, a collaborative effort by the Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Pipeline Surveillance and Waterways Security, Engr. Alore Omosuyi, and the Amotekun Corps in Ilaje Local Government area has led to the arrest of an alleged notorious kidnapper, Terry Tinate Augustus, popularly called “Black.”

The arrest occurred at Alape community of Ilaje council area following a tip-off from the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Special Squad 1.

Augustus is allegedly a key member of a kidnapping syndicate involved in high-profile abductions and extortion schemes in Lagos.

The joint operation was initiated after a kidnapping case in Lagos on December 8.

Leveraging coordinated resources, Engr. Omosuyi and the Amotekun Divisional Headquarters in Ilaje tracked Augustus to a remote hideout in Alape.

Augustus, an acclaimed pastor from Ajapa community in Ese Odo LGA of Ondo State, has been linked to the abduction of Mr. Isa Ososa from Lamgbasa, Ajah, Lagos.

A ransom of $52,000 was allegedly paid, as revealed by an arrested gang member, Promise Mafimisebi. The gang reportedly specialized in targeting wealthy individuals using surveillance and swift abduction tactics.

After interrogation, the suspect was handed over to the Commissioner of Police Special Squad 1 in Lagos State on December 9, 2024. The operation exemplifies the effectiveness of interstate collaboration and the growing capability of local security forces in combating organized crime.

In an interview with The Hope, Engr. Omosuyi, who is also a security expert, emphasized the critical role of public vigilance. He urged residents, especially in the riverine areas, to report suspicious activities, stating, “When you see something, you say something. Information is power and a crucial part of security.”
