Adebayo, who resides at No 5. Olusa Lodge, Ondo Road, Akure, is being charged with a count of obtaining under false pretence.

The Prosecuting Counsel, I.O. Osobu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between February 2022 and February 2025, at Akure.

He said Olusa fraudulently obtained the sum of N34,850,000 from the complainant, one AI Homes and Properties under the pretence of selling 30 acres of land.

He said the offence contravened Section 3(1) of the 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Osobu prayed the court, through an application to remand the defendant at the correctional centre.

In response, defense counsel O.D. Akinware sought permission for his client to respond orally to the prosecution’s application.

In his reply, Olusa asserted that the complainant had approached him to buy a portion of his legally owned land for estate development but failed to pay the agreed amount before advertising the land for resale on the social media.

Olusa also mentioned that he had filed a complaint at the B-Division police station in Akure but was met with a petition alleging that he had defrauded the company.

Magistrate Damilola Sekoni adjourned the case to May 21, for ruling
