Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Hospitals’  Management Board, Dr. Niran Ikuomola has expressed the board’s readiness to make the state health system ‘patient friendly’, so as to improve  the people’s trust in the sector.

He disclosed this while speaking with The Hope shortly after the  2019 first prayer meeting of the board on Wednesday in Akure.

According to him, the introduction of the Contributory Health Scheme enables government hospitals to become the first port  of call for patients, hence the need to improve the hospitals’ standard  to a level which would enable them compete favourably among good hospitals within and outside the country.

He noted that the board can only achieve it by embarking on regular training of its staff aside its routine monitoring exercise.

His words: “As a board,  we will intensify our monitoring effort in ensuring that the hospitals continue to provide quality service and also give prompt attention to the care of our people.

“We will also examine ourselves to know our area of strength to build on it and work on our area of weakness.”

He called on the staff to be favourably disposed to providing services to the people of the state saying, “you must always come very early to work. “

However, he expressed the board’s determination to frown at acts of indiscipline among workers.

Earlier in his words  the board’s Pay Master, Mr. Christopher Adedayo admonished the staff to be conscious of their act in the new year and added that they should live righteously.
