“If you visit libraries across the country, you will know that a lot needs to be done to make them up to standard.”
He said it becomes boring seeing the same set of books every year on the shelves, while new and updated versions are out.
Adeyanju stated that youths have the habit of only reading when examination is approaching and won’t bother to read anymore when they are through
“The major problem deterring youths from reading is social media.
“Instead for our youths to read a book per day, you will see them chatting on social media.”
He advised schools to introduce library hour at least twice a week for students to have time to read.
Adeyanju also advised parents to buy textbooks for their children which would enable them have interest in reading.
