The People Democratic Party , PDP, in Ondo State, has said that its strategy ahead of 2023 general election would earn it opportunity to take over power from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in the country.
The State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Kennedy Peretei, stated this in a chat with The Hope at the weekend
According to him, the strategy put in place by the party would work out fine if the election would eventually hold as a result of high rate of insecurity in the country.
He added that the party has its procedure of picking presidential candidate for the election saying that as soon as machinery is put in place the candidate would be picked up.
“I’m very sure the PDP ruled the country for 16 years and the APC is in its six years in government, therefore, the difference can be seen clearly,” he said.
Peretei noted that the lack of wrangling within the party and the settled crisis before the southwest zonal congress in Osogbo were greater advantages on the side of the PDP to rule the country again.
He maintained that if the trend of banditry, kidnapping, corruption and terrorism continues, it may not allow the election to hold.
He was of the opinion that insecurity was seen not surviving beyond this year, just as he expressed hope for solution over challenges facing the country.
“This is a worst situation. If this level of violence and terrorism continues l don’t see Nigerians having capacity to withstand it beyond this year.
“Talking of 2023 it is just like a mirage,” he stated.
The spokesperson suggested good leadership as the only solution to insecurity and all sort of criminality in the country.
