By Adekola Afolabi

Some stalwarts of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state have expressed confidence in the victory of the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the February 16 elections.

The stalwarts in separate interviews at a rally in Akure, described the mammoth crowd of supporters that usually attend the Atiku/Obi campaign rally as a clear indication that Atiku was widely accepted and would emerge victorious in the forthcoming elections.

Those who spoke included the former Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District, Boluwaji Kunlere; PDP House of Representatives candidate for Akoko South West/South East Federal Constituency, Martins Abiloye.

Others were Oguntodu Johnson, House of Assembly candidate for Akure South State Constituency 1; House of Assembly candidate for Ilaje State Constituency 1, Oladeji Ololajulo and the former Chairman of Akure South Local Government Area, Adebayo Alarapon.

They all boasted that PDP was more than ready to take over power not only at the federal level but also win all other elective positions in the February 16 and March 2, 2019 general elections, describing Atiku as the hope of the common man.

According to them, victory is sure for the party just as they urged Nigerians to come out in their large numbers to vote for the PDP and all its candidates in the elections, to put an end to hunger, insecurity and bad economy.

The party chieftains asserted that a vote for Atiku/Obi joint ticket would be a vote for freedom and prosperity in the country.

Senator Kunlere specifically called on INEC and the security agencies to ensure that the   polls  are  free, fair and transparent and make people’s votes count, adding that the elections must not be seen as a do-or-die affair.
