‘PDP values youths participation in politics’

The Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ondo State, Mr. Kennedy Peretei has said that the PDP is the only party which always take cognisance of youth participation in politics and incorporate young people in governance at various levels in the country.
Peretei , who disclosed this in an interview with The Hope explained that the EndSARS protest few months back was a revelation of new generation of young, bold and ambitious Nigerians to take centre stage in the country’s leadership.
According to him, the youths are no longer ready to take it easy with the way things are going in the country.
He pointed out that the agitation of youths during the EndSARS protest was directed to the administration of old men who have long retired but still serving, adding that the agitation was not against the PDP administration.
Going memory lane, the spokesperson noted that former President Olusegun Obasanjo PDP-led administration showed case young people in governance with the appointment of Frank Nweke (Junior) as the former Minister of Information between 2003 to 2007.
He added that the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was appointed as the former two terms Minister of Finance (2003-2006 and 2011-2015) under former Presidents Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan respectively.
He, also, recalled that the PDP came to power in the state during late Governor Olusegun Agagu administration when a lot of young people were incorporated in governance , whom include the former Governorship Aspirant, Mr. Isaac Kekemeke as former Commissioner for Justice and Mr. Gboye Adegbenro as Special Adviser before he became Commissioner for Works with Dayo Awude as Chief of Protocol under former Governor Olusegun Mimiko government respectively.
“Many people didn’t know that PDP government linked up with Labour Party under the immediate past Governor Olusegun Mimiko-led administration who was former Secretary to the State Government under late Agagu government and as former Minister of Land and Housing under former President Obasanjo.
“It was an in-house fighting that led to the formation of LP under Mimiko who eventually returned to the PDP to consolidate his administration” he explained
