The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed allegations by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of plans to compromise the upcoming governorship election as baseless and unfounded.

In a statement signed by the APC’s State Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Steve Otaloro, the party described the claims as fabrications aimed at tarnishing its image ahead of a crucial election.

The PDP, through its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kennedy Peretei, alleged that APC State chairman Ade Adetimehin had submitted a list of APC loyalists to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to serve as Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers without proper training.

The PDP warned of an described plot by the APC to manipulate the election and accused the ruling party of failing to deliver good governance.

In response, the APC described the allegations as a desperate and unfounded strategy by the PDP to deflect attention from its lack of a coherent campaign.

The APC challenged the PDP to provide evidence to support its claims, including the names of the alleged appointees.

Otaloro further accused the PDP of engaging in a smear campaign against the party and the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, describing the PDP’s actions as a calculated attempt to disrupt the electoral process.

He reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to a free, fair, and credible election, urging the PDP to focus on issue-based campaigning rather than perpetuating baseless accusations.
