A pensioner and Chairman of the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) of Ado-Ugbo Grammar School, Afin Akoko, Mr. Saheed Ikumuyite, has commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the recent bulk payment of gratuities to retired civil servants in Ondo State.
Ikumuyite described the gesture as a source of joy and relief for many senior citizens who had long awaited their entitlements, noting that the payment would help alleviate their hardship.
He expressed optimism that the exercise would continue, stressing that it reflects the governor’s compassion and commitment to the welfare of retirees who had diligently served the state.
The PTA chairman urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds, advising them to invest wisely and prioritise their basic needs.
Ikumuyite also appealed to the state government to deploy more teachers to public schools in Afin Akoko, to address the problem of inadequate teaching staff.
He further encouraged parents to sustain their support for the education of their children and collaborate with school authorities to enhance learning standards.
Ikumuyite expressed confidence that with continued cooperation among the government, teachers and parents, the quality of education in the area would greatly improve.
