The National Association of Pensioners in Akoko North-West Local Government has appealed to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to assist them in the full payment of their stipends as he has hitherto been doing.
The Association made this appeal through its Chairman, Mr Samuel Awolu, while speaking with newsmen at Okeagbe Akoko.
Awolu noted that full stipend nowadays is not enough to take care of many of the elder statesmen, not to talk of half payment.
Another pensioner, Chief Owolabi canvassed for the harmonisation of the pension allowances to meet up with current economic reality.
He appealed for the payment of gratuities of retired government workers, since many of those who left service about nine to ten years ago in Ondo State remain unpaid.
The association however absolved Governor Akeredolu of any blame over the non-payment, saying past administrations in the state handled it with levity, resulting in backlog of unpaid entitlements.
