Ondo state residents are now lamenting the pains of buying fuel at exorbitant prices at almost all the filling stations across the state.
The Hope findings revealed that some abandoned petrol stations that hardly open for operations in the state are fully opened and are dispensing fuel at N450 and N550 per litre.
It was also gathered that scarcity of new naira notes in circulation affected residents in getting the premium motor spirit as the available fuel stations are unwilling to sell fuel in old notes.
The Hope investigation around Akure metropolis and some suburbs showed that fuel is now available with ease, but at exorbitant prices.
Speaking on the stress and pains encountered while buying fuel, a taxi driver who doesn’t want his name in print said the scarcity and seles at exorbitant prices is a deliberate attempt to make life unbearable for citizens.
He said it is obvious the filling stations dealers met to decide on the prices to fix, which is really affecting consumers.
Also speaking in unison, residents said the hike in the price of petrol is becoming unbearable regardless of high price.
They lamented how the petrol marketers were deliberately hoarding the fuel and taking undue advantage of the scarcity of petrol to fix the price exclusively.
They appealed to the government and authorities concerned to wade in and ensure that petrol stations sell at normal price and as well sanction any station selling beyond approved pump price.
