A 25-year-old man, Bashir Ibrahim has been dragged before an Ore Magistrates’ Court in Odigbo for allegedly stealing N650,000 and mobile phones worth N92, 000.
Ibrahim, a phone charger is facing a four-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Muideen Yekini, told the court that the defendants , and two others now at large allegedly stole one Tecno LA7 Pouvoir phone valued N42,000 and the sum of N200,000 from one Mumini Oladejo on February 20, 2019 at about 2:30 pm at Orita Odigbo.
He also told the court that the defendants at about 03:15pm on December 4, 2018 stole one Tecno Carnon CM phone valued N50,000 and a cash sum of N450,000 property of one Okunade Taofeek at old Benin/Lagos road opposite Jolice school in Ore.
He said Ibrahim was arrested when the result of the phone tracking showed his contact in Ore and Zamfara respectively, afterwhich he confessed to selling the Tecno LA7 Pouvoir to a man in Zamfara state.
“Ibrahim and his people even begged the first complaint, Mumini Oladejo that he would pay back the stolen N200,000 and also return the Pouvoir phone. And a sum of N96,000 have been paid to Oladejo.
“So in the case of returning the Pouvoir phone from Zamfara, the Tecno Carnon CM phone was returned and not Pouvoir phone”.
The prosecutor informed the court that the offences contravened sections 516 and 390 of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the four counts. But he told the court that one man called Cardo, now at large gave him the Pouvoir phone to sell and not Carnon CM phone.
The Magistrate, Mr T.J Ajayi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N400, 000 with two sureties in like sum, one of whom he said must be a civil servant.
Ajayi adjourned the case till June 20, 2019 for hearing.
