Physical planning, panacea to devt– ODHA

Ondo State House of Assembly has called on all and sundry to work towards proper physical planning of the State in order to fast-track development.
The House Committee on Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development led by its Chairman Abiola Oladapo made the call during its visit to the State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development in Akure.
The Committee members who promised legislative support where necessary to make the ministry more functional, urged the citizens to abide by the rules and regulations guiding building of structures to avert building collapse.
The Committee observed that the Ministry is very strategic and has a key role to play in modern development called on all hands to be on deck to achieve the set goal.
The Lawmakers commended the Management for a job well done, charging them to do more to develop the State.
Earlier, the Commissioner in the Ministry, Deaconess Lola Fagbemi who reeled out the activities, achievements and challenges of the Ministry solicited for the support of the Committee to get more personnel, tools and vehicles to be more functional.
According to her, the mandate of the Ministry is to initiate, execute, monitor, give advice, and evaluate physical planning of the State, adding that ensuring a data base for the development plan of the State is very important to the management.
The Commissioner informed that work is on top gear on Akure master plan, saying that there are so many developmental scheme the State is trying to put up, like Port Ondo which the Ministry must give technical advice while building a model city in Ore, and other urban areas are garmane to the Ministry.
She said that the visit would in no small measure evolve ways of collaboration and support for the overall development of the State.
