Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), has announced free medical services for the Physically, Mentally and Visual Impaired Persons in the state.

The Governor declared this while addressing members of the Nigerian Association of the Blind, Ondo State chapter during the association’s annual Endurance Trek to the Governor’s Office in Akure.

Akeredolu said his administration has great concern for the less privileged and as such would continue to support them with institutionalised framework to make life worth living for them.

“From now on, you will begin to enjoy free medical care. Other requests like employment will be looked into, to ensure that you live better life”, he assured.

Earlier, State President of the Nigerian Association of the Blind, Mr Sefini Adekola commended Governor Akeredolu for demonstrating the belief that ” there is ability in disability “,

He appreciated the Governor for the appointment of a member of the handicapped population in the state as a Special Assistant on Disability Matters.

Adekola expressed the belief that with the positive disposition of the governor towards the well-being of those living with disabilities, better days are ahead of them.

The Endurance Trek was the highpoint of the International White Cane Day, a programme of the United Nations meant to display to members of the public how the blind usually navigate their way with the aid of the “White Cane”.
