Nigerians have been enjoined to plan ahead for the aftermath of COVID-19 in Nigeria as the pandemic bites harder on the economy.

An economist, Mr Joshua Adeyemo stated this while speaking with The Hope in Osogbo on the effect of the Coronavirus on the nation.

Adeyemo also urged Nigerians to be creative in times like this in order to survive the pandemic ravaging the world.

He noted that some businesses may not survive the pandemic who will lead to loss of jobs for Nigerians.

“It is no longer news that some private firms are already laying off their staff due to some loses incurred during the four weeks lockdown.

Adeyemo stressed that if Nigeria undergo another lockdown, the economy may crash and it will take years to recover from it.

He noted that a country like Nigeria depends solely on oil and what government brings to the table may suffer more from the pandemic than western countries.

He urged Nigerians to embrace agriculture, which may be the only surviving grace for the nation after the pandemic as oil business is no longer booming.

While commending government at all levels on the fight against COVID-19, he urged them to empower citizens in order to prepare well for the inevitable during and after the pandemic.
