Arrangements are in top gear in preparation for schools resumption as soon as the state government lifts the ban.
The Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Rev Akin Asaniyan made this known in an interview with The Hope in his office.
According to him, there is a strategic framework that the Ministry is working on, and if schools must resume, it must not be haphazardly.
The permanent secretary also said efforts were on to see that the pupils and students are reorientated on how to conduct themselves in classrooms when they resume.
“The first thing that any educationists should be concerned about now is to change their orientation”.
He also said there are plans on how to educate the students more on all precautionary measures .
He said other plans include clearing and fumigating everywhere, adding that the limited time to be used on the assembly too was also considered.
Speaking on the time already wasted during the closure, Asaniyan stated that a platform, Guidance and Counselling unit of each school has been scaled up, where teachers have been trained to tutor the pupils and students on how to maintain precautions after resumption.
He posited that the Ministry is going to collaborate with private schools to ensure that they followed the rules on ground to avert what was not expected to happen.
To prevent any eventuality, he said the ministry will also collaborate with security personnel to ensure that everyone comply with the guidelines.
On the shuttle bus and school buses, the perm sec said there would be guidelines on social distancing in the queue whenever they wanted to board the bus.
“More security personnel will be reinforced and then, overcrowding will not be allowed. Private schools also have to comply with the guidelines.
“Human face approach will have to be used in all the guidelines so that students and teachers will be in good health and private schools too will not lose”.
Asaniyan also commended the state government in the area of enlightenment of the COVID-19 on the mass media, describing it as potent, which he said has given the parents more confidence in the government.
