‘Plans to recruit health workers underway’

Plans are underway to recruit more health workers in Ondo State, The Hope has gathered.

This will give room for more skilled man- power required to operate at the various health facilities across the state.

Commissioner for Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro disclosed this while addressing staff of the Ministry on Wednesday in Akure.

According to him, the government of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is determined to bring an improvement to the health sector, hence the need to put in place the necessity to achieve this.

While reiterating governments effort at improving the sector, he hinted that over N2billion worth equipment will soon arrive the state, which according to him will enable every health centre to have skilled diagnosis.

While speaking further, he hinted that the Contributory Health Scheme which would soon take off will enable the people of the state to access affordable health care without financial embarrassment.

On the increased number of Mother and Child Hospitals from two to seven, Adegbenro hinted that the facilities to be used are being prepared so as to ensure they measure up to standard in functioning as mono specialist centres.

While calling on the staff to rededicate themselves to work,  he explained that a lot of activities have been outlined for the year, mentioning the malaria scheme, a World Bank supported project,  as one of them.

His words: “We have a lot to do this year, we are working on the malaria project, NSHIP programme, we have to refurbish our health facilities across the state, and the Teaching Hospital complex among others.

“There is also the need to improve our health indices.”

He appealed to staff to do their work well and assured that there will be a combined effort in giving the sector a face lift.

However, he reiterated government’s resolve to bring an improvement to healthcare delivery for  the people of the state.
