Police arraign 2 over death of ‘Say Bayo’

Two persons; Atinuke Adeniyi and Isaac Ade-Ojo, arrested in connection with the death of a socialite, Mr Adebayo Oladoyinbo, popularly known as “Say Bayo”, have been arraigned in an Akure Magistrate Court.
The duo, Adeniyi and Ade-Ojo, were brought before the court by men of the Ondo State Police Command on two counts charge of felony and perversion of justice.
Recall the deceased was found dead in his car on December 10, 2023, at Ijapo Estate, Akure. Thereafter, a hotel manager in the area and the deceased’s lover girl were arrested and charged to court over the matter.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Wada alleged that the defendant committed a felony “to wit perversion of justice.
According to the prosecution, Adeniyi was alleged to have “become an accessory after the fact with regard to the death of one Oladoyinbo Sunday Adebayo also known as ‘ Say Bayo.
The offence contravenes Section 126 of the Criminal Code Cap.37 Vol.1 Law of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
Wada requested permission from the court to withdraw his earlier application on notice to remand both defendants to the Olokuta Correctional Centre in Akure.
After withdrawing the application, Counsel to the first defendant(Adeniyi), Mr A.O Afolabi, presented an application for his client’s bail and promised she would be presented in court on every adjournment date.
Similarly, counsel to the second defendant, urged the court to grant his client bail and promised that the defendant would not jump bail.
The prosecutor did not object to the applications for bail.
Magistrate Damilola Sekoni, adjourned the matter till January 29, 2024, to rule on both bail applications.
