Police arraign man for stealing Okada

A 32-year-old man Olamide Jimoh , has been dragged before the Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo town, for stealing a Honda motorcycle worth N200,000.
The police brought Jimoh before the court on Monday for allegedly stealing an unregistered motorcycle said to be the property of one Tope Adepoju .
Jimoh, who is now facing a one- count charge bothering on stealing, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
The accused was said to have committed the offence between January 31, 2019, at about 10pm and February 1,2019, at about 7am, at No 22 Temidayo street in Ondo, contrary to and punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
The charge sheet read in part,”That you, Olamide Jimoh, on January 31, 2019, between the hours of 10pm and 7am on February 1, 2019 at 22, Temidayo street, Ondo, in the Ondo magisterial district did steal one unregistered Honda motorcycle valued at N200,000, property of one Mr Tope Adepoju and thereby committed an offence contrary to punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37 Volumes 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The police prosecutor, Sgt. Charles Olagbayi, who told the court that he would be calling two witnesses to testify in the case, applied for a date to enable him study the case file.
Lawyer for the accused person, Alhaji Habeeb Badmus, applied for the bail of the accused person in most liberal terms.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Odenusi Fadeyi granted the accused person bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She said the sureties must be residents within the jurisdiction, while they must show evidence of payment of tax for the current year, while photocopy and original copy of identification card should be attached.
She adjourned the case till March 8, 2019 for trial.
