Police arrest 1,035 suspects, recover stolen vehicles, firearms

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has arrested 1,035 suspects involved in various criminal activities across the country.

According to a statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the arrests include 179 suspects linked to armed robbery, 100 for kidnapping, and 152 for murder and homicide.

Other arrests include 34 individuals for unlawful possession of firearms, 77 for rape, and 110 suspected cultists.

Additionally, the police seized 73 firearms, 310 rounds of ammunition, and 56 stolen vehicles while rescuing 22 kidnapping victims.

Among the notable arrests were Muhammed Kabir, 36, and his associates, Donald Okpere and Haruna Ibrahim. The gang, which posed as military personnel, defrauded victims of millions of naira by using fake alerts to purchase gadgets and medical equipment.

Also apprehended were members of a notorious gang: Sunday Okwo Ade, Monday Solomon, David Emmanuel, and Shakiru Badmus. This group specialized in stealing motorcycles from farmers in Lagos and Ogun States. The police thwarted their activities and recovered 15 stolen motorcycles.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to protecting lives and property, emphasizing the NPF’s relentless pursuit of criminals to ensure justice is served in accordance with the law.
