Police arrest cult kingpin in Akure

A 36-year-old Eiye secret cult leader, identified as Peter Ifanyin Chigozie, has been arrested by operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT), of the Nigeria Police, Ondo State Command.

It was gathered that the suspect was apprehended by detectives led by SWAT Commander, Olasunkanmi Owoloye, who got the information and immediately swung into action which led to their arrest of the suspect at Oba-ile, Akure North local government area on Friday April 26, 2024.

According to report, it was gathered that the suspect confessed to have been a cult leader in Owo since 2021.

Based on information, a resident who lives in a house close to the suspect, said he witnessed when the officers came to pick him up. But said no one could tell if he was in a secret cult or not.

Investigation revealed that two new machetes and seven berets were found in his possession while he confessed to be the leader of Eiye confraternity.

Police sources said the case is under investigation.
