Police arrest ex-convicts over burglary in Ekiti

Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects who allegedly burgled residential apartments, place of worship as well as shops in the state.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr Sunday Abutu, said the suspects, Dare Agbadaola and Ameye Ayo, were arrested by the operatives attached to the Ilawe divisional headquarters.

According to Abutu, the suspects were arrested after carting away household items and church property in the community.

He explained that the suspects during interrogation, confessed to have committed the crime and led the police operatives to the place where those stolen items were kept.

Items recovered from them include one unregistered TVS motorcycle, One Suzuki motorcycle, deep freezer, a roll of rug, three single upholstery chairs, four double upholstery chairs, One pulpit belonging to Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and three plastic drums,

Other items recorvered from the suspects include, one stabilizer, four wall clocks, two generators, Four big church amplifiers, plastic chairs of large quantities, three big church speakers, one wall fan, half roll of wire, DStv decoder, StarTime Decoder, two DVD players, two bundles of iron sheet, one big foam, one wardrobe, two glass shelves, plates, cups, head pans and four bags of cement.

Abutu said the suspects who are currently in the custody are still helping the police in its investigation and that they would be arraigned accordingly, while effort is ongoing to recover other stolen items.

He urged residents of the state not to hesitate in giving information to the police whenever strange movement is noticed in their environments.
