Police arrest father brutalising five-year-old son

The police have arrested a man, Odukaye Kunle, for brutally assaulting his five-year-old son, Boluwatife, in the Otta area of Ogun State while the child was preparing for school.
A widely circulated video captured the moment Odukaye, in a fit of rage, used his right leg to sweep the unsuspecting boy off his feet. The incident occurred when the child approached his father in the morning, apparently to ask for money for snacks.
In the footage, Odukaye, engrossed in his phone, was seen knocking the boy off balance, causing him to fall backwards violently and hit his head on the ground. The impact prompted a harrowing shriek from the child.
Shocked passers-by swiftly intervened, rescuing the boy and alerting the police.
On Saturday, March 1, the police confirmed the arrest of Odukaye.
Force spokesperson, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, announced the development on his social media account, stating that the suspect had been apprehended and would be charged in court on Monday.
Adejobi added that the child and his mother would undergo medical evaluation at the police medical centre in Otta.
“The mother of the boy and the boy will be taken to our police medical centre Otta for further medical assessment and attention. The OC Medical, Ogun State, has been ordered to proceed to Otta on this mission. Kunle will be charged to court on Monday.
“We commend the CP Ogun State, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, and his team for their commitment to ensuring that the boy gets justice. We appreciate you all for your concerns as well,” he said.
