Herbalist Arrested for Murdering Friend to Make Ritual Soap for ‘Yahoo Boys’
A 50-year-old herbalist, Kehinde Ganiyu, has been apprehended by the Osun State Police Command for the gruesome murder of his Ghanaian friend, Emmanuel Collins.
The crime, committed last Thursday in Oba-Oke, Olorunda local government area of Osun State, was allegedly motivated by Ganiyu’s desire to create ritual soap for internet fraudsters, known as ‘Yahoo boys.’
The police, during a parade of the suspect, revealed that Ganiyu was found in possession of four blood-stained knives, a chisel, two gourds, a wooden pot containing black soap, two sponges with black soap, a traditional tray (Opon Ifa), and various charms.
Police public relations officer Yemisi Opalola disclosed that Ganiyu had confessed to the crime, explaining, “I visited my friend Emmanuel because he was sick. While he was in bed, I took a knife and cut his throat. I used the part to prepare ritual money soap for Yahoo boys.”
Ganiyu, who described himself as an herbalist and farmer, further admitted, “I have performed such rituals for Yahoo boys before, but they usually provided the human parts. This time, I obtained the part myself. I deeply regret my actions, especially since I attended his burial. The police investigation eventually led to my arrest. I never imagined I could kill my long-time friend.”
