Police arrest man for raping 10-yr-old

Osun State Police Command has arrested a 27- year- old man, Fatai Gbodorogun, for allegedly molesting a 10-year- old girl.
Gbodorogun was said to have defiled the victim, Mariam Mohammad, in Ila Orangun.
Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, who confirmed the arrest, said investigation was ongoing.
“The case happened since last year but the family of the girl did not report until Tuesday at Ila Police Station.
”The D.P.O has taken action and brought the suspect to State C.I.D for further investigation. And we are still investigating him.”
It was gathered that the suspect had been visiting the house where the victim lives with her father’s elder sister to have carnal knowledge of her since last year.
According to the victim’s aunt who craved anonymity for security purpose, “I am the one taking care of Mariam after her mother died some years ago.
”The accused person, Fatai has always been having sex with my girl since last year. This is the third time he had sex with her.
“All I noticed was that my girl couldn’t walk very well again. She couldn’t lift up her hands and legs very well. I kept asking her everyday what really happened, she didn’t answer me. I thought maybe she has a spirit disturbing her.
“When I noticed blood stains in her private part early this month, she told me that Fatai has been defiling her since last year and warned her that she would die if she revealed to anyone.
”Lo and behold! She immediately fainted after she revealed what Fatai has been doing to her.
” I quickly ran out for help where neighbours and others joined us. We consulted some Muslim clerics and she was revived, but she couldn’t walk very well up till now.
The victim’s aunt said the case had been reported at Ila Police station, while the matter had been brought to the State C.I.D in Osogbo.
She said they took the victim to ; the Police clinic for treatment and also to get the medical report.
