Police arrest man who kills brother

Ekiti State Police Command has paraded a 24- year-old man, Ebenezer Olorunleke, who allegedly killed his brother in Aba village,  a suburb community in Ado-Ekiti.

It would be recalled that The Hope Metro  had once reported that one Sunday Olorunleke, a labourer,  was allegedly murdered in his house in the community,  while the assailant went away with his motorcycle.

Addressing  journalists in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, the Police  Commissioner, Mr Asuquo Amba, said the suspect, who hailed from Jege in  Kogi State stabbed his brother to death and fled to unknown destination.

The commissioner said  the suspect and three others who are still at large  invaded his brother’s home and stabbed him to death, while he later stole his red coloured  Bajaj motorbike with number plate ADK 100 UJ.

Some items  recovered from the suspect, whose accomplices were still at large  include  a long screw driver, knife and Bajaj motorcycle.

Amba told news, “they hit him in the stomach and pierced his intestine when his wife and children were not at home. The suspect  had confessed to the crime.”

Another police source revealed that the attackers allegedly drove  a long nail into rhe deceased’s skull while struggling to rob him.

Responding to questions from journalists during the parade,  Olorunleke said his friends  killed the deceased, who was his blood brother because of his stinginess.

Olorunleke, who described himself as a victim of circumstances,  said his friends who allegedly killed his brother were in his brother house on the fateful day to assist him  collect money from him, describing his brother as a stingy individual.

“I did not follow them inside the room. But upon realising that my brother had been stabbed and was shouting, I rushed in and wanted to rescue him, but he bit me and chopped off my finger.

“The boys later came to my house to attack me. They wanted to sell the machine, but I resisted it. I was thinking of coming to the police to report when I was arrested with the machine.”

“Though I had begged him to give me money for a very long time,  he refused. Thereafter, he went and bought a brand new motorcycle instead of giving me the money I requested from him,” he said.

The CP reiterated the readiness of his men to continue to fight against crime and other nefarious activities in the state.

He said the command has set up operation, “PUFF Adder” and had rejigged its Special Anti Robbery Squad(SARS) to make Ekiti safer .

He said the efforts of the state command ensuring  that proliferation of light arms is  checkmated in the state.

“Those apprehended are genuine suspects, who will be tried and we are also sure of conviction,”the CP assured.

Amba added that the wide network of communication with sister agencies and  local hunters, had helped the police in extending  its tentacles and fortify its  intelligence gathering mechanism.
