Police arrest murder suspect,traffic robbers, recover firearm

The Nigeria Police Force has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities across the country, with recent arrests made in Lagos highlighting ongoing efforts to ensure public safety.
This is contained in a statement issued by Force Police Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi and made available to The Hope on Sunday.
According to the statement, operatives from the Satellite Division, while on routine patrol along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway on February 7, 2025, intercepted a suspect, Wisdom Obi, 24, at Abule Ado bus stop. Obi, who was riding an unregistered motorcycle, was found with a brownie pistol and 13 rounds of live ammunition concealed inside an MP3 radio.
He was immediately taken into custody, while the firearm and motorcycle were recovered as exhibits.
Investigation into the case is ongoing. “On the same day, policemen from the Orile Iganmu Division arrested four suspected traffic robbers, Kadir Ibrahim, Ifeanyin John, Oduwole Shola, and Rilwan Olajuwon, while they attempted to rob passengers of a broken-down vehicle at Ascon White Sand, Orile Iganmu.
The suspects are being held as investigations continue. The police have warned residents to be wary of traffic robbers who disguise as traders to prey on unsuspecting commuters in gridlocked areas.
Meanwhile, officers from the Ikoyi Division responded to a violent confrontation at Falomo Square, Ikoyi, on February 5 2025.
A disagreement between Okeke Johnchris and 33-year-old William Wisdom reportedly escalated when Okeke rammed his Lexus saloon car into William, inflicting fatal injuries.
The victim was rushed to Gbagada General Hospital but was later confirmed dead. Detectives visited the scene, and the body was moved to the IDH Morgue in Yaba for an autopsy.
The suspect is currently in police custody, awaiting further investigation and prosecution.
The Nigeria Police Force has cautioned against violent confrontations, urging citizens to seek legal means of resolving disputes rather than resorting to self-help.
It reiterated its commitment to tackling crime and ensuring that offenders face the full wrath of the law.
