Police arrest twin brothers, others over serial burglary in Ekiti

Detectives of the Ekiti State Police Command have arrested twin brothers, Taiwo and Kehinde Olusoji, over alleged serial burglary of shops and stealing in the state.

The police also confirmed the arrest of two other persons, Afolayan Funke and Nnaji Benignus, who were said to be the receivers of stolen goods from the twin brothers.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr Sunday Abutu, the suspects were arrested while making an attempt to break a shop at Mathew Street, Odo-Ado in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of the state.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the crime and further stated that they burgled three shops at Fayemi Market, Agric Olope, Ado-Ekiti, where they carted away two bags of rice, two bags of beans and other valuables valued Nine Hundred and Thirsty-Six Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty Naira (N936,750).

“Further investigations by the Command Rapid Response Squad (RRS) led to the arrest of one Afolayan Funke ‘f’ and Nnaji Benignus Aroh ‘m’, who the suspects claimed have been receiving stolen property from them.”

The spokesperson of the command said the suspects who are currently in their custody, are helping the police with the investigation.

He said that they will be arraigned accordingly as soon as investigation is completed on the matter.
