Police arrest two car robbery syndicate in Ekiti

Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Mr Akinwale Adeniran, has confirmed the arrest of two  suspects who specialize in stealing cars in the state.

The police boss gave the names of the suspects as Oluwasegun Emmanuel and Suleiman Olaoluwa.

He said they were recently arrested within the main campus of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti while the duo attempted to remove one Toyota Matrix Car parked in the premises of the institution.

The CP added that upon the arrest of the suspects, the duo made confessional statement that they had earlier on February 16, 2024, forcefully opened the door of a Toyota Corolla car parked within the premises of the institution and stole one HP Laptop computer and  assorted clothes kept in the vehicle.

The Commissioner further explained that one of the suspects, Suleiman Olaoluwa, was identified by one of the victims as one of the armed robbers that robbed him of the cash sum of N365,000 and two iPhones, before dispossessing him of his Toyota Corolla car at his resident in GRA, Ado-Ekiti metropolis.

Adeniran disclosed that investigation revealed that the suspects were responsible for the stealing of a Toyota Corolla Car in Ado-Ekiti on May 28, 2021, a Toyota Camry car in Ado-Ekiti on October 12, 2022, a Toyota Camry in Ado-Ekiti on December 7, 2022, and a Toyota Matrix Car in Ado-Ekiti on December 15, 2023, all belonging to different owners.

He explained that investigation also revealed that the suspects stole a cash sum of N550,000, from a vehicle parked at the owner’s premises at GRA, Ado-Ekiti, on February 2, 2024.

He concluded that the suspects will be arraigned in a competent court of law as soon as investigations are completed on the matter.
