Police officers from B Division, Oke Aro, Akure, have arrested two suspected burglars over alleged theft of a generator and mattress at Oruntan Street, behind Mother and Child Hospital in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The suspects, simply identified as T. Boy, father of three children and Timi, were apprehended around 4:00 p.m on Tuesday following a tip-off from residents of the area.

According to eyewitnesses, the duo had been notorious for terrorising the neighbourhood with frequent cases of burglary and theft.

They were immediately taken into police custody at B Division, Oke Aro, where further investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, residents of Oruntan Street have expressed concern over the increasing rate of burglary and other criminal activities in the area.

They appealed to security agencies to intensify patrols and take urgent steps to safeguard lives and property.

“We can’t sleep with our two eyes closed anymore. These criminals are everywhere. We want the police and Amotekun to come to our aid,” one of the residents lamented.
