Detectives of the Plateau State Police Command has arrested a 23-year old student of the University of Jos for allegedly killing his colleague and burying him in a shallow grave inside his room at Rusau village, Jos North Local Government Area.
Sources confirmed the incident to newsmen in Jos on Sunday, citing a report received from the university’s Chief Security Officer.
The suspect, identified as David Nanpon Timmap, a 300-level student of the institution, allegedly attacked and hacked to death 22-year old Peter Mata Mafurai, a fellow student, inside his residence.
According to the sources, police operatives from the Laranto Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, swiftly responded to a distress call at about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and arrested the suspect at the scene.
Investigations revealed that after killing his colleague, the suspect buried the body in a shallow grave he had dug inside his room.
The remains of the victim were later exhumed and taken to the Bingham University Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy.
