Police constable nabbed over alleged cybercrime, fraud

A police constable attached to the Ogun State Command, Idris Oloyede, has been arrested for alleged involvement in cybercrime, conspiracy, stealing and other related offences.

His arrest, carried out by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, followed credible intelligence, according to counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama.

Makama, who disclosed the development in a post on X on Friday, said his sources within the security circle confirmed that the arrest took place on Wednesday.

Constable Oloyede, identified with Force Number 537972, is attached to the patrol team of the Odeda Divisional Headquarters.

According to Makama, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Odeda promptly released the officer for further interrogation as soon as the Anti-Kidnapping Unit operatives arrived.

The suspect has since been moved to the SCID for thorough investigation.
