Police launch manhunt for runaway husband who matcheted wife

The Ondo State Police Command said it has launched manhunt to track down the runaway husband, Mr Shuaib Kalejaye aka Ajah, who macheted his wife and kept threatening to wipe out her family if she quits the relationship.
The state Chairman of the Federation of Women Lawyers Association (FIDA) Barr. Bola Joel Ogundadegbe made this known yesterday in a chat with The Hope Metro in Akure, the ondo state capital.
Ogundadegbe said the Deputy Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Ishola Baba Ita has promised to ensure that the culprit will be brought to book soonest.
According to her, the DCP said he has directed the DPO of the Okitipupa police station to, as a matter of urgency track down Kalejaye, while he also directed that no financial remuneration or whatsoever be attached before apprehending the suspect.
“The Deputy Commissioner said he was never aware of the case, as there was no report of such before him.
In a related event, some women organisations under the umbrella of the National Council of Women’s Societies (NCWS) are demanding for justice to prevail since the incident occurred last year December 5, 2019.
They expressed dissatisfaction on the inability of the security operatives to apprehend the culprit whom they claimed still walk freely within the community.
They, however vowed to write a petition to the Ondo State Command and also meet with the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
It would be recalled that Shuaib Kalejaye aka Ajah macheted his wife, Olabisi Adeola in Okitipupa on December 5, 2019 for daring to quit their 10-year-old union blessed with three children due to maltreatment and his wicked behavior.
