Police launch manhunt for suspected killers of three children in Anambra
The Anambra State Police Command has begun a manhunt for those responsible for the murder of three children in Nise, a community in Awka South Local Government Area.
Speaking on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident, stating that the killers scaled the fence of the victims’ home on Saturday night, January 4, to carry out the attack.
The bodies of the three children, aged between two and six, were discovered in a parked Mercedes Benz car within the compound.
“The assailants entered the compound, killed the victims, and dumped their corpses inside a parked Mercedes Benz in the compound. The incident happened on Saturday, but we got the report late on Sunday,” Ikenga said.
He added, “We are trying to unravel the circumstances behind the killing, whether it was due to the negligence of their father or the motive of the suspects. As soon as we conclude our investigation, the report will be made public.”
A source who requested anonymity revealed that the victims were found with their mouths tied, alleging that their father, a native doctor, was known to lock his wife and children in the house whenever he left.
“The father of the victims was reported to have been having issues with some unconfirmed individuals. However, it cannot be determined if these conflicts led to the deaths of the three children or not,” the source disclosed.
