Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested two armed suspects in connection with a violent attack that left three persons injured in Idanre.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, and made available to The Hope, the suspects were apprehended by officers attached to the Idanre Division following credible intelligence received in the early hours of October 6, 2025, at about 7:25 a.m.
Preliminary investigation revealed that one Abimbo Rotimi, aged 35, popularly known as “Officer Koi”, a notorious drug dealer, armed robber and cultist, alongside his accomplice, Joseph Innocent, aged 28, both residents of Ehinpeti Street, behind White House, Idanre, attacked an Indomie shop owned by one Henry (surname yet to be confirmed) and a residence belonging to Abimbola Sunday on the same street.
According to the statement, the suspects, armed with a locally-made pistol, a knife and other dangerous weapons, inflicted various injuries on their victims. Henry sustained stab wounds on his fingers, Abimbola Sunday was bitten on the lower lip, while a commercial motorcyclist, Akinduko Akinbobola, suffered a stab wound on the head.
“Upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Idanre Division, led a team of surveillance officers to the scene. Although the suspects had fled before their arrival, a prompt intelligence-led operation led to their arrest,” the statement added.
Items recovered from the suspects included one locally-made pistol, one kitchen knife, two pairs of scissors, and an axe.
The statement further noted that the victims had been taken to hospital for treatment, while the suspects are currently in custody cooperating with investigators.
The matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, Adebowale Lawal, commended the professionalism and quick response of the Idanre Divisional team.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and provide the police with credible information to aid in combating crime.
