Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three persons in connection with the kidnapping of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Mr. Paul Omotoso.
The police in the state through its Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday Abutu, announced the release of the APC scribe alongside two victims at the early hours of Thursday in Ado-Ekiti.
The APC Chairman was abducted on Saturday night along Ilumoba/Imesi road in Gbonyin local government area of Ekiti State, while driving in his private car.
The police, however declined to mention if any ransom was paid, but said the APC Chairman and two other persons have regained their freedom and reunited with their families.
Abutu said the rescue of the victims was made possible through the combined efforts of the police, other sister agencies, the local security outfits and the family members as well as the Ekiti State Government.
According to him, “While appreciating the good spirited members of the public for their concern and relentless support, the Command wishes to inform you that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and are supplying useful information that could lead to the arrest of the prime suspects at large.”
Similarly, a source close to the family in Imesi-Ekiti, who confirmed the release, also did not say if any ransom was paid before the victims were released.
“Yes, he was released at the early hours of Thursday, alongside two other persons. The Chairman is currently in a private hospital in Ado-Ekiti receiving treatment.”
