Four suspected Fulani herdsmen alleged to be responsible for the recent series of kidnappings in Ondo state, were on Monday arrested by security operatives on surveillance at Ikare Akoko junction in Owo Local Government Area of the state.
The Hope Metro reliably gathered that the operatives, who acted on information, apprehended the armed hoodlums, in possession of sophisticated weapons, such as guns , dagger charms among other valuable items recovered from them.
An eyewitness account told our correspondent that the suspects who could not converse in English language, only spoke Hausa.
It was learnt that they were reportedly ordered by the security operatives to sit on the floor infront of the former Tunji and Tunji filing station in Owo.
Information reaching The Hope Metro indicated that the suspects would be transferred from Owo to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligent Department (SCIID) at the police headquarters along Igbatoro road, Akure for discreet investigation.
Reports said the commissioner of police Mr Olugbenga Adeyanju had been briefed on the successful joint operations carried out by the military, police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
When contacted, the state Public Relations Officer, Mr Femi Joseph, a Superintendent of Police, who confirmed the arrest said the suspects are undergoing interrogation.
Joseph, however, said the identities of the suspects were not yet clear, adding that further investigation will assist the police.
He commended the security operatives that carried out the arrest, just as he warned people with criminal intent to relocate as the state will be too hot for them to carry out their nefarous activities .
Also speaking with The Hope Metro, a senior lecturer at the Department of Mass Communications, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO), Dr Raman Abubakri, commended the security operatives, describing the arrest as a huge success and relief to innocent people in Owo, including motorists who ply the road and its environs.
He therefore called on members of the public to assist the police with useful information that would help curb crime in the state.
